We went to Morocco for Christmas this year together with our favorite Swedes.
I hadn’t been to Morocco for many years. In fact, the last time I was there was before we had kids. It was another lifetime ago. This time I saw it all through their eyes, but I also saw it through different eyes of my own. Very different. Perhaps it’s normal that with age comes a heightened sense of awareness about things. (It’s an understatement to say that I was hyper-aware of the potential to get food poisoning, for example 😉 Moreover, I was acutely aware of how much we owe it to ourselves, our kids, and each other, to get out there and really see each other. I hope my kids remember the beauty they saw in these people and this place.
