That there are only 145 photos in this blog post and not 500 is incredible. It’s the result of some excruciating deliberation. You guys, have you been to Texas? How had I never been to Texas? Remember that (soon to be resurrected?) photo project, You Are My Wild, that I was a part of? We made some half-baked plans months ago to meet up this summer. I kind of never really expected it to happen, and if it did, I assumed we wouldn’t make it. But Brooke somehow managed to convince some of us to make the trek to Marfa. To say I was skeptical is an understatement. I was almost kind of dreading it. I mean, traveling to a small town in the middle of nowhere with three kids for 6 days with people you actually don’t really know is not exactly my thing. We were no sooner in our rental car, on the highway to Marfa, when I realized that I had been oh, so wrong about this trip. The skies. Oh my god, the skies. The mountains. Who knew?! The colors. The light. Holy shit. The light.
Go to Texas ASAP. Meet up with some virtual strangers. Take a few photos. It will change you just a little bit.
Here are the photos I couldn’t bear to edit out. In the spirit of Texas, I decided to go big or go home.
